Re-sync a deleted contact back to Outlook when using Server Side Sync

Does anyone know how you re-sync a contact back to Outlook if you have accidently deleted it from your Outlook contact list when using Server Side Sync?

If I use Outlook to sync contacts (rather than Server Side Sync) I know I can remove the Outlook configuration and then reconfigure to force Outlook to download them again however this does not work in this scenario.

As the contacts sync directly with Exchange rather than Outlook I am at a loss to see how this would work.

    We are experiencing the same issue and have not been able to resolve it. We have Server Side Sync and O365 Exchange accounts. I have deleted contacts out of my Outlook Client and cannot get the contacts to re-sync between CRM Online and my O365 OWA account. Other O365 users ARE able to sync CRM records owned by me to their Outlook Client. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  -Hal

    Hi,

    I've run into the same problem. Did you manage to find a solution, would you share that please?

    Thanks for responding!

    This is just unbelievable. I resorted to using CRM app for Outlook. At least that has an option to reconfigure the org and resync everything.

    One would think that server side sync between CRM Online and O365 should be seamless.

    I've also found on numerous occasions that bidirectional syncing contacts between CRM, Outlook and then on to users' devices is something that Microsoft still needs to work on, especially if non-windows devices (Android notably) are getting involved. Getting contacts to users devices and sharing those contacts within an organisation should be one of CRMs basic features that should be working flawlessly to my understanding ... but it isn't.

    I can understand your frustration and at the same time I realize that the CRM/Exchange/Outlook sync process is very complex. I'm not making excuses for Microsoft, but just a reality. With that being said, here is what I finally discovered through trial and error as a way to resolve getting a contact to sync after it has stopped syncing with your Outlook / Exchange Server:

    1)  Add a duplicate contact (just the first and last name is needed) under the same account.

    2)  Go to the Contacts page and select both the old and new contact by selecting the checkbox next to the contacts.

    3)  Select the "Merge" option in the top banner.

    4)  Make the new contact the master and complete the merge.

    Usually within the 15 minute sync window (assuming you are using Server Side Syncing with Exchange), you should see the new contact appear in your Outlook with the icon next to it that shows that it has been synced. You may need to delete any duplicates, but be careful not to delete the newly synced contact.

    Hi, I have the same issue and have not been able to solve it for quite some time. Even exporting/deleting from Outlook.

    The suggestion to duplicate, merge and delete duplicates is a hell of a job and if there are thousands of contacts that need to be synced.

    I suppose there must be some registry where synced records are being stored so sync process knows which contacts should only by re-synced if modified.

    I am no expert with SQL nor CRM internals so any hint on where to reset the whole sync process, even for all users, would be very helpful. Have a one way sync of contacts CRM 2016 On-Premise --> Exchange Office 365 with Hybrid exchange configuration.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    did anybody ever find a solution for that?

    I tried manipulating SubscriptionSyncEntryOutlook and ExchangeSyncIdMapping entries (e.g. set isdeletedinexchange from 1 to 0), but it did not help.

    thx Thomas

    Hello, anybody found a solution for this issue? I would like to avoid the merge solution.

    Many thanks,

    As this Question is very old, i hope it still helps the one or the other:

    My situation was i used Server-Side Sync to Sync Contacts from my CRM To my Outlook.

    I deleted one Contact and was not able to get it back by sync.

    As i had a Productive and Test Environment and i used Server Side Sync in Production i made the following:

    * went to the Testsystem and searched for my user

    * went to his Mailbox

    * Approved EMail

    * Test & Enable Mailbox

    * THIS NOW IS THE KEY!!!: There was a popup which statened "Sync items with Exchange from this D365 Org only..." I activated this flag and pressed OK

    This changed my Exchange Settings to map the Test Environment.

    Now i did all theses Steps again with the Productive Environment, so it would change the settings back to my needed Environment.

    Now all "deleted" contacts were synced back again.

    So, just to add my two cents here on post.

    Your Exchange mailbox account can be sync only with one Dynamics CRM organization at the time.

    Triggering the "Primary org check box" will resync also email messages, so be careful about your CRM workflows, Case creation, SLA, Surveys etc.

    Server-Side Sync service, uses several SQL tables to do the sync and mapping, for example - exchangesyncidmapping , deleting some records/rows is possible and could help, but it is not suggested.

    Exchange mailbox - contact - have additional field, called "crmid" where is placed the information from CRM contact - guid. Manually copying / moving contacts, from exchange / outlook to csv, or excel, will not retain this information, so be careful. You can show in outlook desktop this additional field as custom one and will see the values...

    I still believe some good instruction and way from Microsoft CRM product group team is needed clear instructions on how to fix exchange deleted contact and to "resync" it again, especially on Dynamics 365 service where you do not have access to SQL tables..
