Yes correct ,visibility control with read  access rights . Only difference when you set user level read access rights , that means user only see his/ her owned record.

When you set BU ,parent BU level read access rights all user belongs to BU and parent BU owned record can see by the User.

    Question :

it doesn't mater if the person who created it had Create on User level, or any other level?

    Answers:

Create access nothing but control to whom you can set the owner at the time  of create record , Yes it's matter in terms of records owner perspective .

Let say a user have user level create access and and BU level read access in contact entity, which means at the time of create contact record record owner will be always user itself, user can not change owner.

Now seems the User have the BU level read access which means user can see his created contacts as well as all BU user created or owner of contacts.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for your response. This is helpful.

Basically, it doesn't have anything to do with visibility?

If I set some entity to have Read access on Business unit level, it would mean that all people from same business unit will see that record, it doesn't mater if the person who created it had Create on User level, or any other level?

RE: Create permission in security role

    Hello,

When you create record with user level access means you can set owner of record user itself,You can not change the owner apart from the User who is creating.

Similarly other access level let's say you have BU level means user and the BU user can be owner of the record.

Parent child means current user BU and parent BU user can set as a owner of record.

    Hope this helps.
