How do I write off a fixed asset in Business Central?

Posted on by
I am trying to write off a Fixed Asset that was disposed of for $0.  I have followed the Disposal process and created a Fixed Asset G/L journal.

I have used FA Posting Type - Disposal.  Because the asset was not sold by destroyed, I have entered $0 as the amount.

When attempting to post, I get the following error message.

Amount must have a value in Gen. Journal Line: Journal Template Name=ASSETS, Journal Batch Name=DEFAULT, Line No.=10000. It cannot be zero or empty.

If I use $0.01 then the transaction will post.  Apart from the $0.01 the values all calculate correctly.

Is there a setting that allows posting of zero value journals?

Is there another process I should be using.

    Hi,

Have you by any chance entered a balance account for the FA G/L journal as there should not be one needed in this scenario?  These are the only settings that I have on my depreciation book and when I entered the journal it worked ok.

This posted as expected and entries created.

Have you any modifications to this area could be something to check as well?

    Thanks,
    Shauna
