Hi guys
Just upgraded a clients D365 v8.2 to v9 and all appears to have went well apart from the Portal not responding. We have a Portal configured against this instance of D365 and it's only used periodically (and it's currently not being used by others and that's why we chose to upgrade D365 now) but the Portal is not responding at all and keeps coming back with 500 errors at present.
I've tried the usual suspects (Portal Admin area, etc.) but the Portal Actions section of the admin portal is not loading either...so we cannot restart the Portal from there.
I've raised a ticket with MS Support for this but still awaiting a response and it's been down for 14 hours now.
Anyone any ideas or is it just likely to be a service that's failed to start on the tenant and we just need to wait for MS to sort this? I'm concerned as this was the first upgrade from v8.2 to v9 with a Portal attached (the others were just the Sandbox areas and all went okay but we don't have Sandbox Portals to check this worked). We have a bigger upgrade coming in the next 2 weeks for another client and their Portal is their main website so we can't have this go offline for any large amount of time at all so if this is going to happens again we need to ensure we know exactly how to get this fixed.
Thanx guys
Steven

Sorry Darren, I wasn't alerted to your reply. So when you try to upgrade the Portal in the Dynamics admin area does it tell you why you cannot upgrade if there is a Solutions upgrade available for it? Does it attempt the upgrade and then basically tell you it can't be done or does it successfully go through but the Portal doesn't appear to be working?
We're on D365 v9.1.0.299 and Portal v9.0.10.6 across the board now and it appears more stable than most.
HI Steven, thanks for the quick response. We're on 8.1.0006 and our core version of dynamics is 9.1.0.299. We're not getting much help from Microsoft even though we're pushing the use of portals. Its so frustrating! We feel that if we could at least get the versions right we'd have a fighting chance.
Hey Darren
Sorry to hear you're having some issues here. Yeah we got this fixed but it broke on all the upgrades we performed and I'm convinced it was a background service that was causing the issue that needed MS to restart for us (although they haven't admitted anything to us). We've upgraded them all now so if they've streamlined the service then great but wasn't helpful when we were experiencing it.
What version of the Portal are you on at present and what version of the core D365 are you on? I know there was an issue with one of the updates (can't recall which one off the top of my head) as well as an issue with D365 core (which broke a whole raft of things) but these have been resolved with updates (and other items broken but there's less of these now).
Cheers
Steven
Hi Steven. Did you get this fixed? We had similar issues following our upgrade to v9 which eventually were sorted by a Microsoft engineer. We are a UK local Government organisation who rely on portals for our website. We upgraded our development and test environments successfully and have portals attached to both of them.
We are still experiencing outages on a regular basis and are convinced that there was some damage done during the upgrade. One of the symptoms that we are experiencing is that we cannot upgrade our portal software to version 9.0.6.1. I'm reaching out to anyone who may have similar issues to see if there's anything we should be aware of or if anyone has got anywhere with Microsoft support.
Hello Steven,
I believe it's related to TLS1.2 enforced for v9.0. Give MS Support time to figure the issue out.
