Hi,

NAV stores quite a few dates that can be future/past dated (order date, posting date, shipment date, document date etc). However, where can we find the actual date a posted SO Shipment, SO Invoice etc as processed? i.e. where can we find the transaction date ?

There is no transaction date, normally when you post shipment or invoice you need to change posting date which can be used but not all the time it is true. If you want a real shipped date or invoiced date then you need to add a customization and populate that during posting.

I was hoping this was not the case.

There are so many date fields in NAV but no transaction date (at least not without a modification) which we think is really important.

    Ok thanks for your response.

    hi,

usually your requirement can be fulfill within , setup " allow posting date withing only financial year or by setting restricted by cannot post as previous dates "

this is kind of change according to your business practices,

and more you can use "posting date for your requirement"

but the case is yes , it can be change ,

in that case if you really need a fixed display date you can coordinate with your vendor and do some small customization and can add another field

Using standard functionality, you can setup change log entries (msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh167300(v=nav.90).aspx ) for inserting of the data into posting tables. Later on this would allow you to track what user and when had created this transaction.

However, it is better to do a small customization and populate the transaction date as current date to a new field added to the posting table, as change log will be growing quite fast if you have many documents posted.

    Hello,

If you Navigate any entry which has been entered in to the NAV and it has General Ledger Effects, It has a user Creation Date.

You can use that to View when the Transaction was Actually posted in the System.

The Same applies to the Approval entries also, NAV holds the date & Time of approval. What you just need is ask your development team to show it on the Front or in the Ledger against the document Number.
