How to get an email to send to someone when a lead is created?

Hi everyone,

We only have one sales guy, so it's hard for him to always keep up with new leads. We were hoping to setup an email that would be sent to him every time a new lead was created. Could you guys help me figure out how to do this?

Thanks!

Also, we are hoping to setup a notification for each time a leads information has been changed. This would only be sent to only a few people, and we would hope it would show up when they logged into CRM.

Be careful setting up automated notifications if you don't have the email system to back it up. Emails will start clogging the system resources because the email server can't deliver them.

Create a workflow triggered when a new Lead record is created. The only step is to Send an Email to the owner (your sales guy) with the information you select.

For your second question, you can create a new workflow that is triggered when a Lead record's fields are changed. The first workflow step will send the email to those few people, and the second step is to create a task for those individuals.

You could setup a workflow to update a custom date field on the Lead entity when specific fields on the lead are changed.  Then create a view for your sales team that lists all the leads based on that date field.  This would at least bring visibility within the CRM rather than the email notification.

Thank you all for your help. It is definitely appreciated. I ended up making a workflow to trigger the email.

Now that i learned this new trick, i have a few more questions... I would love to be able to send a notification to those someone when one of our custom fields on an opportunity changes is this possible? Or is this just something you can do to for an entity?

How about the ability to change fields with a workflow?

I would love to be able to automatically change one field based off of another fields amount/description.

You can set up an if statement with an Update {entity} step. Text matching is tricky but amounts aren't too hard.

You can setup a workflow that trigger on the creation of new lead and on some conditions you create an email entity. Thus, If you set the scope to user and assign the workflow to that user, it will only triggers for him.
