Time of posting an invoice

Hi

We have an API that imports journal lines into a journal for later posting.

One invoice could be at about 3000 lines, and it will take about 35 minutes to post it, during which period no futher import of lines is possible and no other users can post anything.

Is this normal, the time it takes to post - I meen?

Currently we are developing a solution that imports in one journal and prior to posting BC copies the line to a different journal, so that posting will not prevent new lines in beeing imported.

But still all posting is blocked for 30 minutes or so, while posting on journal at 3000 lines.

Is it normal that only one user can post journal lines at a time or are there a "work around" like using different jounals, sales, finance, etc.

I am only aware of customization when importing the data (API) - the posting it selves should not be customized.

Hi, This situation is normal, because the table will be locked when posting.
But what confuses me is does it take 35 minutes to post 3000 lines? Is there any customization here?

Also I think you should execute this API outside working hours.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for answers.

I have a quite good knowledge around locked tables etc. so I will take it from her - with my developers...

But the other half of the question? Is it normal to spend around 30  minutes on posting 3000 lines?

Are you on prem or on BC online?

    Hi,

The above is not issue. It is standard, You are facing lock table issue. When bulk entries posted then this type of error is coming. It is normal. Because while posting, System locks posted table.

As per mu suggestion. Enter the Bulk entries in Buffer table and create on batch job which will post these entries one by one with time interval. So locking issue reduce at some extent.,

    Hi,

You can introduce Job queue concept with Codeunit, so that It execute all your process at back end.

    Thanks.
