Time Sheets to Production orders and Assembly orders

Hi

I am new to business central, but cannot understand how to input time sheet entries to Assembly orders and production orders

In the time sheets I can see the type for Assembly orders but it does not allow me to use it in the timesheet? And how does one go about posting time to a production order?

    Debbie,

Assembly orders are not designed to have time tracked against them.  The concept of an Assembly Order Item is one that is put together at the time of shipment.  Like a kit of items that are thrown in a bag prior to shipment or a nut and washer being threaded on a bolt.  You can allocate resource cost in your Assembly BOM, but Microsoft does not have an Assembly Journal or anywhere to post a time entry against an Assembly Order.  If you need to track time you are better off using a simple Production Order with a single Operation.

I wish Time Sheets would be updated to allow recording time against a Production Order.  For now, you can only enter the time in the Output Journal.

    Debbie,

I get the same issue in my Cronus database. I am thinking this is a bug affiliated with the Type = Assembly Order. Maybe one of the Microsoft Techs on the Forum can reply here.

As for Production Orders and time, you enter time using the Output Journal or Production Journal.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Steve
