How eConnect can import data into GP in 'POST' status directly.

hi,

When we import data with eConnect into GP it will be in a 'SAVE' status, later we have to go and post it.

Is it possible to POST it directly using eConnect with the status as  'POST'.

(Because, after importing user can also change data and then post,i need to block it.)

Regards,

Nilotpal

    Hi Nilotpal,

You are only able to bring data in with a status of work using eConnect you are not able to bring it in and auto post it using eConnect this is not something that is available to do with eConnect.

    Thank you

If I remember correctly, SmartConnect can not only import data into the work tables (the proper way to accomplish this task) but can also launch other processes (like GP with a macro that will execute the Post process).

If your imports run automated in the evenings, you could just launch GP with a Macro from the workstation task scheduler

    Hi Nilotpal,

Although it is not possible for eConnect to automatically post batches after they are imported, you can use a third party tool to automatically post the batches.

One tool, that I resell in North America, is Post Master for Dynamics GP.

    http://envisagesoftware.com.au/post-master-for-dynamics-gp

Here is a blog post that I wrote about it before I started to resell it:

    Hello,

in DynamicsGP@googlegroups.com group there was on post for AutoPost eConnect , blogger was saying Microsoft is providing "Autopost.dll" to post directly from eConnect. Not sure about it .. !!!

     Thanks

Re: Re: Re: How eConnect can import data into GP in 'POST' status directly.

    Hi Sandip,

Thanks for that update, I had never heard of the AutoPost.dll.  The newsgroup post I found is from 2008, and the AutoPost.dll does not appear to be listed on the PSTL brochure, so it sounds like it is one of those "off the menu" items that they have and sell, but don't publicize.

    http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.greatplains&tid=bc36af65-467b-47b9-b3f8-bb226a6cc38c&cat=&lang=&cr=&sloc=&p=1

It sounds as if the DLL might need to be installed on a machine where both GP is open and running, and the integration is running (so that the eConnect integration can call the DLL directly).  But the post doesn't fully explain how it works.

My assumption is that Post Master for Dynamics GP is a much more comprehensive offering, as it can automatically detect new batches, post batches based on batch ID, automatically post immediately, at a specific date and time or on a recurring scheduled basis, can generate all GP posting reports, and has full logging and notification mechanisms.

So depending on what the client needs and how much Professional Services charges for their DLL, it looks like there are a few options.

    Thanks,
