Moving to MOSS 2007 from WSS 3.0 with Business Portal

We have an existing Business Portal Site on Dynamics SL 7.0 that is running on SharePoint Services 3.0. We would like to move to MOSS 2007 on the server. Has anyone done this? We are trying to find out what the steps would be, and if there are any caveats we should be on the lookout for. We would prefer not to have to reinstall Business Portal if possible

This comes from our Infrastructure Team:  "It is actually a lot easier than one may think.  I would recommend a backup first, just in case.  Then you run the MOSS 2007 install (make sure you install any patches you previously had in WSS 3.0 as before).  There are also MOSS 2007 patches at the same level (i.e. SP2 or the June 2009 cumulative update).  Make sure you don’t patch anything additional until everything is stable.  In other words, don’t decide to install SP2 if you didn’t have it to start with.  You can find the patches in Add/Remove Programs.  Once they have been installed, run the SharePoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard to sync the database, it shouldn’t make you rejoin your previous farm.  Once you are finished with that, restart iis.  Go to Add/Remove Programs and click the Change button next to Business Portal for Microsoft Dynamics.  There is an option to upgrade to MOSS 2007.  Once we finished that, we restarted iis and our page came up.  Make sure you do not try and access the Business Portal page during the upgrade and if the upgrade does not work, you may have to start over from scratch and reinstall Business Portal (we had to do this in test).  We were also already on Feature Pack 1, which apparently makes it easier to upgrade.

Just another side note, if you have other servers in your SharePoint farm linked to Business Portal, make sure they are all MOSS 2007 as well, otherwise you can run into a lot of problems."

Perfect! Thanks for the detailed response. And, in fact, you answered another one of my follow up questions, which involved whether I should upgrade to Feature Pack One before we did this.
