AX2012R2 - explanation of BOM level at Released Product screen..

Hi Everybody,

sorry for so 'easy' question - but we discussed lastly the meaning of BOM level stored in InventTable for given item (Released Product form - tab Engineer). Some of us understand BOM level as:

A. the highest BOM level in last Master Planning - on which the item has been proceeded on last MP session. If the item is product (top level) and is not included in other BOM's as sub-item (in BOM line) - the BOM level shall be equal 0.

Some understand BOM level otherwise:

B. the deepest BOM level in its BOM's - if the item has BOM with 3 levels - the BOM level stored in top item shall be equal 3.

Could you tell me how really BOM level is meant ?

Thanks a lot for any help

It is the lowest level. It is called an LLC, a low level code.

Planning plans from the lowest level upwards.

A finished goods item not in any BOM would have a "0" code. but a raw material in the first level of the BOM, but also in the first level of a BOM that is a sub-BOM would have "2" even though it is "1" in one BOM.
