share a document location between two entities?

So say I attached documents to a Lead, and I want those to carry over to the resulting Opportunity when the Lead is qualified. Is there any way to achieve this? I imagine it will require some type of code to retrieve the unique id of the sharepoint folder and then map it between the two.

    This depends on if you are ok to have the documents still in the same place in SharePoint. If so you can simply create a new document location record for the opportunity that points to the same folder as the lead document location. You could potentially simply update the document location record to be regarding the opportunity.

    Hey Scott,

    Yeah, that might seem like a simple solution to us, but it would not be very user-friendly. Essentially they would need to copy the URL of the existing folder location. Then click 'Cancel' when the Opp record attempts to auto-create the Document location. Then click 'Add Location' and paste in the URL that they had copied earlier.

    I agree - it would need to be automated via a custom workflow/plugin.

    Just bumping this up to see if there's any new revelations. I recently noticed that Document locations are an entity unto themselves and I can drill into one to see a record-specific location but how could I map this to a related entity?
