Resetting Page number if Group changes in SSRS report

Hello,

I have a requirement where i want to reset  PageNo and TotalPage for each group in the report.

There is no such feature available natively in ax ssrs. Somewhere it mentioned that using data method we can achieve that. But i am not sure about it.

Can you please let me know in case you have come across such requirement? Thanks.

    Hi Arun & Bilal,

As i mentioned, it doesn't support in SSRS in AX. It can work if you use Report server project with .NET application. But doesn't work with Dynamics AX report Model. Please let me know if i am wrong. Thanks.

    Hi VDY,

the article I have sent you is only about creating a global variable , so I think you can try it even with AX report Model.

I implemented a similar data method in past. I run into an issue, though - data methods used by AX reports are static and if you simply used static fields (e.g. for offset), they would be shared by all instances of the same report, which would be obviously wrong.

I didn't know how to get report's execution ID, so I built a quick & dirty solution distinguishing report instances by execution start time. If anybody knows a cleaner solution, I'll be happy to hear it.

    Hi Martin,

Can you help me by providing the data method you wrote if you can recall it?

It's really a big pain for my customer now.

The code was written for a client and I don't have access to it anymore. It also solved a different problem; Reset Page Number On Group seems to be closer to what you're trying to achieve.

I might be able to help you with some problems when writing the method, but you'll have to explain first what problem you have.

    Hi Martin,

does SSRS in AX supports writing custom functions in report itself? Also, where should i define variables in the report?

My requirement is exactly the same what is mentioned in the link you shared. I just want to reset the page number when group changes in the same report.

Create a data method; you can use it in expressions.

The documentation is here to help you - please read How to: Define a Data Method in C# [AX 2012].

RE: Resetting Page number if Group changes in SSRS report

I've seen that SSRS 2008 R2, 2012, and 2014 have global variables to deal with this situation.  It seems that even though we are using SSRS 2012, when it's used in conjunction with AX, those features are removed.  Does anyone know if this limitation still exists in AX 2012 R3 and/or CU7?  I saw that Microsoft has enhanced reporting in R3 but I was unable to find out if they now support the expanded global variables that are available in SSRS 2008 R2 and later.
