Alternative Product - When to use options

Hi all,

Stupid question - what is the difference between the two options in Released Products Details - "Nothing in inventory" and "Nothing in inventory in warehouse". How does D365 determine which warehouse to use when triggering this condition?

Thank you

I have the same question (0)

    Hi rigosakh,

I know about "Nothing in inventory" option but you can further check "Nothing in inventory in warehouse" but i can shed some light on that.

Nothing in inventory – When set if the item doesn’t have inventory the specified alternative will be used. For example: You will setup the alternative item B on item A to be used as when there is nothing in inventory.

Nothing in inventory in warehouse: It will check the inventory of Item A in the warehouse that is selected in default order setting.

    Hi,

My standard environment doesnot have the option Nothing in inventory in warehouse, please check if it is a localization feature or customization.

That's what I thought, thank you Junaid

And the follow up question - how can I check which warehouse is selected in default order settings?

    Hi,

Check the default warehouse in the default order settings. But as i said previous, you need to check if it is customization.

    Hi rigosakh,

You can find the that on the below navigation path:

Go to Release product >> Manage Inventory Tab > Order setting section > You will see Default warehouse field in Purchase Order/Sales Order/Inventory sections.

As i mentioned in my first response, this option doesn't show up in my environment as well but i personally assume it might be because i didnt activated/checked "Use warehouse management process" on my warehouse in my environment.

Thank you @MATTGUO and @Junaid Idrees

I can see this option in my environment and the interesting thing is that the default warehouse field is left blank but the orders are populating correctly and picking up the correct warehouse

Hey you please advise whether the nothing in inventory warehouse is standard? this feature would be of great benefit but i no longer see nor can find any information about this except for this post.
