If you want to implement Lot Number or Serial Number in your item, you can use the Item Tracking Code.

For example, when doing the transaction, such as Sales Order, the user will be forced to input the Lot or No Series in the Sales order.

If you want to Purchase item and you assigned a Lot Number and Serial Number then you need to assign Item tracking code to that Item to track item.

I have one more question. For what is needed serial number and Lot number? whats the adventage of use these?

There is a lot of advantage of Serial no and Lot No main purpose is to track an item.

    For example :

i purchase item (cup) so now cup is item and i purchased 3 quantity of same cup its lot no is LOT001 so the the serial no will be changed but the lot no will be same like,

    Item    Lot No    Serial No

    cup      LOT001   S001

    cup      LOT001   S002

    cup      LOT001   S003

Hope you understand and verify my answer if my replay answer your question.

If you sold your item and a customer found out that there are problems with your item, you can track the history of the item by looking at its serial / lot number. You know where and when you purchased the problematic item.
