Copy Accounts from Live CRM to Test CRM?

Hi All

As part of a new project I need to copy Accounts from our Live CRM site to our Test CRM site.
Is there any suggested method of doing this? Should I use the Kingsway SSIS plugin or is there a better method?

Any advice would be great :)

Thanks
Mattie

    Hi Alex

Just successfully done exactly that and AccountID and AccountNo are now importing. Great stuff, thank you very much for the help and direction :)

    Hi Mattie,

try to make it simple first.. Go to the column mappings in the destination component and remove mappings for all columns except for the accountid and name fields.

Once you get that working, start adding other columns

There will be a few caveats:

    - If you map ownerid field from the source to the destination, that user has to be enabled in the destination (and has to have required permissions)

    - CreatedOn should be mapped to the overridecreatedon

Maybe something else.. but that's just off the top of my head.

    Hi Alex

Thanks for your response. I have tried the advanced filter but the records are still not here.

    I'm getting this common error:

The output column "accountcategorycode" (899) on output "CRM Primary Output" (898)

and component "Dynamics CRM Source" (888) is not subsequently used in the Data Flow task.

    Along with a security error:

The user with SystemUserId=fe75cab3-178a-e611-80f7-5065f38bf341 in OrganizationContext=b5dad9e9-d052-4e22-9449-f78dd78fb2cc is disabled.

I'll check permissions etc, I'll sort it :)

    Thanks

    Mattie

It's either something in the setup of those SSIS components, or it's about the way you are looking for those records in the destination.

    From the SSIS standpoint:

    - You should be able to see how many records were sent over from the source to the destination. If you don't see anything, it could  be that you are not sending any records at all (if you are using Fetch, there could be some conditions there)

    - If you see some number there, then, well, I'm assuming your target and destination components are using different connections, right?

Then, on the CRM side.. I'm wondering if you are have some filters in the view when looking for those records (try advanced find with no filters maybe?)

    Hi

I've tried a really basic CRM Source -> CRM Destination but the records don't appear in the destination database.

There must be something I am missing?

    Hi,

Kingsway and SSIS should work just fine, and that's what I would usually use.

But you might also have a look at the configuration migration tool: technet.microsoft.com/.../dn647421.aspx
