Hi All

can it be possible to restrict users to see posted transactions of a specific main account and dimension set so that users could only see the transactions without dimension. I want to secure a specific main account plus dimension set.

please suggest.

Deepak

    Hi Deepak.

As mentioned previously, if you want to restrict access to specific records based on e.g. a dimension value then XDS is one of the options.

But be careful as it might be a large task when needing to ensure the access is restricted across all affected forms, reports etc.

    Hi Andre

    Thanks for you reply

Here is the brief requirement of scenario.

We want to use a main account + dimension set to record costs through general journals and to post budget register entries with the same main account + dimension in D365 Finance & Operations. This will allow us to compare actual vs. budgeted amounts on a dimension-wise basis. However, we want to ensure that the dimension is only visible to specified users. We aim to hide/restrict the dimension on posted transactions in the general ledger, budget register entries, and all other relevant reports and pages, including Trial Balance, Actual vs. Budget, Voucher Transactions, Budget Register Entries, General Journals, and any other areas where the dimension can be seen.

    Please see and suggest.

    Regards

    Hi Deepak,

I shared some additional details of my previous reply in a new blog post: https://dynamicspedia.com/2024/12/security-how-to-remove-dimension-values-from-voucher-transactions/

    Hi Deepak,

It depends on what page you want to restrict what details. Some menu items can be hidden by security and you can restrict main accounts using XDS.
In case you want to have on the Voucher transactions the main account only visible for users without the dimensions from the field Ledger account, then you would need to restrict access to that field and using a personalization you can distribute to have the field Main account visible instead of the Ledger account.

As the reply states in that thread, you will need to use XDS ti sikve a requirement of that sort.

    Hi,

Yes, it is possible. Start by creating a new security role or modifying an existing one. This role should have limited access to the financial dimensions and posted transactions. Then in the security role, specify the permissions for the relevant main accounts. Under the security role, limit access to the financial dimensions by setting the permissions accordingly. Make sure users only have access to transactions that do not include the restricted dimensions.

After configuring the security role, test it with a user assigned to that role to ensure they can only see the allowed transactions and not the restricted ones.

    Hope it helps
