Item Setup wrong BOM unit update

I have an item that has the wrong designation for the BOM unit and I need to change it?  I have each and want it to be cases. Is there a way to update that in the item setup?

    Hi,

Can't you directly change the unit?

    Hi,

What's the inventory unit of this item?

If you want to use cases as the bom unit, you should define the conversation between cases and inventory unit first.

The option is available, but it only give me Each or Gross.  I can go to the other tab for "ALL" and get the whole library of conversions, but when selecting Case, I get an error shown below.  My suspicion is that there is another setting somewhere that I am not thinking of that is limiting my BOM Unit selection.

    Thank for you help!

For reference, all of our other items are set up with the cs (case) BOM Unit.  This one was inadvertently set to Each and I believe it triggered the Purchase/Inventory/Sell to also be each. So, my user created a bit of a tangled mess.

    Thanks for you help!

The root cause is the unit conversion setting.

Please go to Item details and find the target item, then click the button on rightside: Setup-> Unit Conversion to create a conversion from cs to ea.

Thanks Leo, but unfortunately I don't think that's the issue for a couple reasons.

    1) We have hundreds of other items that have cs(case) as the designated BOM unit with no issue.

    2) in many instances the units/case is different.  So, I would need to set up several, if not dozens, of case to units conversions leading the system to much confusion on which one to reference.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I'm still thinking there is a parameter that was auto set when the BOM unit Each was selected that is in the background that I am unaware of.
