163I have a client who is going to be adding a new site for their inventory. They currently have only one. This will require us to add an additional segment to their GL account structure to track sales and COGS per site. Their current structure is a 5-digit main account plus a 2-digit department. When inventory was initially set up, we selected the dept segment as the segment ID for sites. The current site has no value specified for the account segment. We will need to change their account structure to add a 1-digit location code and that third segment needs to be the Segment ID for Sites in inventory setup.
I have read that you can update the IV40100 table and change the ACSGFLOC field to the appropriate value. Is it really that simple or will changing that value in SQL cause other issues since they have been using inventory for a few years now? They will want to do segment substitution so that they can change the COGS and sales accounts to track revenue by site. Thanks for any feedback on this.
