Rec version and Rec Id

Dear All,

I know that RecVersion and RecID both are generated from Karnel.

Both are working together for each and every record on table during Insert and Update record ?

Please give me more shed on this.

Thanks!

Arpan

    Hi,

RecordId is a unique identifier(surrogate key) that gets created when a record is created and its is unique per table.

RecVersion is the field managed by kernel to maintain record versions, default value

is 1 when record is created and later on its updated(to some random number) for every update on table. recversion values are used by kernel in detecting update conflicts like it checks the value when record is selected(for update) and is matched when record is updated.

    Hi,

The kernel does handle the recId generation and also manages it(with the help of systemSequences table which stores the next value of RecId for a table record).

Please refer following links for more insight:

    Hi,

As far I know system will not maintain any such logs for recIds/recVersions.
