GP 10 Payroll Tax Updates

We just got a call from an orphaned GP client. They have a third party application that is holidng them back from upgrading. Their question is now that GP 10 is no longer supported can they still run the Payroll Tax Update routine? It appears that they can but what else will they be missing by still being on GP 10 with Microsoft no longer providing any payroll tax code updates?

RE: GP 10 Payroll Tax Updates

    Hello,

As Dynamics GP 10.0 is in its extended support period, there won't be any further service packs, hotfixes, year-end updates or tax updates released for it.

The supported and recommended process, if you use payroll in Dynamics GP, is to upgrade to a supported version, which has the tax updates and year-end updates as needed.

While you may be able to manually change the tax tables, there's no guarantee that will also make any other related changes within Dynamics GP 10.0 and that you won't see other issues because of it, which would also be a non-supported process.

    Thanks,

RE: GP 10 Payroll Tax Updates

    Hi Richard,

I've got a number of version 10 clients who were concerned about this. While the concern is well-founded, no more payroll tax updates - as Richard mentioned, but we've just been updating the payroll tax tables. Now, the 941 and 1099 forms won't print just right, but we don't rely on GP for that anyway.

If the actual calculation method changes, they won't get the code (a la a couple of years ago), but if it's just the tax tables, they can just change them.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

I would suspect that when they try to they will receive and Unsupported Version error.
