I am unsure of the limitations. We store/have stored PDF, Word, Excel and Solidworks viewer files. Each Note is stored as it's own directory and then stored as som sort of an archive that I think you can read with 7-zip.

What are the limitations of this field? I notice it mentions it is an OLE field. Does that mean it only stores objects such as a PDF document or can I store a URL to our document management system? The location is where users want it we just need to know what we can or cannot store there.
You can attach documents to Notes windows. Click on a Note icon (next to Document numbers, customers, vendor, etc.) If your OLEPath is set correctly in Dex.ini you should see a paper clip button that you can attach files to the note. If you want everyone to see them, your OLEPath should be set to a network location that everyone can access.
