Viewing Why a Sales Order was Late

I am looking at sales orders that were late and trying to determine why the confirmed ship date was later than the requested ship date. I'm unsure on how to determine whether it was late due to material arriving late, the shop not finishing the product on time, etc. Can anyone tell me how I can view what was the cause of a late sales order?

The confirmed is not the actual shipment date, it is when you say it will be shipped.

As for what caused the lateness you could not tell. It could be that a purchase order was delayed, but then there was a scheduling issue, or a machine breakdown and then other priorities for an important customer etc. There is no real way to tell why a delivery was delayed to the customer unless you explicitly start to record the information.

The only time you know this is at the time when the confirmed date is set, and that might even change. For example a planned delivery from vendor is delayed will impact all ready confirmed orders...

If you want to go back and know why an order confirmation was set you need to manually understand why the order promise was matched and write a short text note.

You could do reservations to a created order and keep some kind of tracking that way.

You can add reason codes to picking but someone has to fill in the field.

This is setup in sales and marketing and can be defaulted from the customer setup or set on the sales order.

Once on the sales order header it will print on the packing slip.

With WMS notes can also be added for mobile devices for pickers to see e.g.to advise  why an urgent order should be delayed, or be added as a packing note
