Field Service 21H2 Preview: simplified work order command?

Posted on by 225

So we've enabled the wave2 preview for one of our sandboxes, and we've run into a massive issue:

In Field Service, there's a new parameter "msdyn_showsimplifiedworkordercommands" which is set to true by default, that hides essential buttons from the msdyn_workorder form, such as Activate/Deactivate and Assign.

Now, we were told that we could simply disable this by Support, but after testing this it appears that the Buttons still do not appear - not in the ootb Field Service app, and certainly not in our custom model-driven app.

So - two questions for anyone that's already experimented with Wave2 of Field Service:

1) Do you have the same issue with the switch not doing anything, and the buttons being hidden by default?

2) Any ideas on how end users are supposed to reassign / close work orders now? We're not using the ootb experience, so I'm thinking maybe we're missing something that someone using the standard Field Service app would know of.

    Hello Pieter,

the WorkOrder.Library.js web resource is responsible for this, make sure to check the customized version for changes you made before removing the customization layer.

DKasp , we're experiencing the same issue... Could you tell me which library specific handles this? Thanks in advance!

already did that at the time i created this post, and we've received feedback and a solution:

The JS library responsible for evaluating the config setting was customized by us (apparently by accident as in "someone opened it, clicked on save" as we were unable to find any changes done by us), and due to that the updated library did not evaluate the setting.

The buttons are hidden by default and the library has to enable them on demand. Weird design decision to do it this way, but removing the customization layer fixed the issue for us.

I support what Nya shared below:

If you've set the "Show Simplified Work Order Commands" field to No from Field Service Settings, please raise a support case. If there is something that causes this setting not to work, this is something that MSFT would like to understand and resolve or document before the setting goes GA.

    Thanks for raising this.

    Hi,

Only the following two relevant documents can be found which give a short description of this option.

    Work order and bookings settings

    Work order form simplification

If you have doubts about the use of the new features, it is recommended to raise a ticket to MS for more help.
