RSAT for user acceptance testing

Hi,

I have read documents on RSAT and unable to understand if RSAT can be used for any type of application (web/desktop) or is it just specific for F&O process the documents talk about.

I am very keen to understand if RSAT is a good candidate for UAT. If anyone has any experience using RSAT please can you share your experience/views.

thanks

    Hi Keeplearning,

As far as I know, RSAT can only validate processes performed in D365FO.

And I think RSAT is the first choice for testing business processes.

as per my personal view, Since RSAT is using already Documented Business Processes (in BPM), it can be mainly used for the verification of those Processes. But individual User experience and System Usage will differ from user to user so we cannot cover that in RSAT and there may be processes outside BPM too. So I don't think RSAT will be a good option for UAT.

    Hi Will,

Thanks for the info . It helps me decide now and get an idea that RSAT is not good candidate for UAT in general.

Thanks Amith, it helps. Any idea if there is anything on azure that can be good candidate for UAT.

Are you looking at something that can automate your UAT?

    Hi Keeplearning,

I have another opinion. You can use RSAT for UAT and regression testing if you know what to check for. See also the documentation: docs.microsoft.com/.../rsat-overview

If you created task recordings, you can move them via LCS to DevOps Test suites. In that case you need a BPM, but mainly with a structure. It doesn't really require to fully describe all your processes in LCS BPM. There is also an option to create test cases in DevOps Test suite manually and link the files to the test case.

For each test automation tool you choose, you must realize that the initial recording and setup takes time and you need to verify the test results with your expected outcome. Usually, I do suggest to first start creating automated test cases for the most business critical processes, like invoicing; then you can extend the number of tests with others; based on priority.
