Sales Document Print Options Screen

I am a seasoned user of Great Plains 2010.  I regularly produce invoices for my company using the Invoice Entry/Invoicing Batches options and my invoices print on a Word template.  I have had several requests to e-mail invoices to our customers.  I have watched YouTube videos describing how to do this.  But I always get to one part of the video that doesn't match up with my screens.  It is the Sales Document Print Options screen.  When I hit my Printer icon, it doesn't come up with that screen.  Instead, it goes directly to the Report Destination screen that just gives me the "Screen", "Printer" and "File" options.  It seems to bypass the Sales Document Print Options screen that I see in the videos.  I suspect that this is a setting that I've chosen years ago.  But I don't know where to go to change that option.  How can I access that screen?

Can you send a screen shot of the sales transaction entry window?

GP2010 should have this function (by my recollection as I used 2010 for a loooong time LOL).

I don't know of a way, without customization, to bypass the Sales Document Print Options window... which is what you seem to be 'skipping' when you click print.

You are indeed hitting print, correct? and not Quick Print?

I'm hitting the button with a printer icon that says Print.  Right next to the Post button.

I wish I could send a screen shot.  Haven't figured out how yet.  I can do a Print Screen and it ends up as a picture on my computer.  But I haven't figured out how to attach it or embed it here.

One thing to consider is I'm operating in invoice entry, NOT sales transaction entry.  When I asked my GP partner about this, he seemed to think there wasn't a way to do e-mailing directly from invoice entry.  The videos I watched sounded like I should be able to.  But maybe they're talking about invoices created from Sales Order Entry, which I don't do.

Another thing I am missing is my Sales Document Entry options.  My Sales part of the program starts right at Invoice Entry, then Invoicing Batches.  Could that be my problem?  Did we buy these in modules, and maybe I don't have that module?  It's been so many years now that I don't really remember.  I see other sales document options in my Fabricam sample company.  And I also see the Sales Document Print Options screen in the sample company.

    Annie,

No worries on the screen print/attachment - your text answered my question indirectly.  I was thinking that maybe you were in Invoice Entry, rather than Sales Transaction Entry.

You cannot use email functionality from Invoice Entry.  This is also why you are not seeing the Sales Document Print Options window - it is for Sales Transaction Entry, not Invoice Entry.

You may not see the Sales Transaction Entry options because of security or because of your registration/license.  I am not 100% sure if Sales Order Processing came with GP 2010 but my memory says it was part of the starter pack.

Just curious... why are you still on GP2010?

OK, the more I looked it yesterday, the more I thought that it was due to using Invoice Entry.  I'll just e-mail the invoices a different way.

I'm still using GP 2010 because I'm a 66-year-old woman working for a small company.  We spent a lot of money (for us) purchasing the software and there was a huge learning curve for me.  Now everything is working fine (except for the e-mail) and I'm looking toward retirement, so why change things?  Believe it or not, we purchased the old Great Plains DOS program in 1991 as the very first computer program our company had. (Previously I used the big hand-written double entry ledger books!)  I ran DOS Great Plains from 1991 until we purchased GP 2010 - long after the DOS version had stopped being supported.  I guess I'm not quick to make changes and my boss doesn't like to spend money on programs unnecessarily.

Yes, thanks Tami.  I have PaperPort and print my invoices to PaperPort as .pdf all of the time for my digital filing.  So I'll e-mail from there as my work around.  I was just trying to find a more streamlined way.
