How to link a contactPerson to a certain customer?

Hi,

From the UI,

how can i assign two contact persons that share the same partyNumber to different customers in different legal entities?

I mean let's say i have two customers that share the same partyNumber:
 
CustomerX partyNumber1 USMF
CustomerY partyNumber1 USRT
 
now i went to global address book (i was on legal entity USMF) and created a party there, then i clicked create New contact
then i switched legal entity to USRT, opened the same partyNumber and clicked create contact again
 
So now I have
ContactPersonIdX PartyNumber1 USMF
ContactPersonIdY PartyNumber1 USRT

now how can i assign ContactPersonIdX to CustomerX in USMF?
and assign contactPersonIdY to CustomerY in USRT?

    Contact person assignment is stored in a legal entity specific relationship table.
    The same Party can have:
    Different contacts
    Assigned to different customers
    In different legal entities
    This is standard D365FO behavior.

    Hi @CU22120935-0,

    Contacts are company-specific, so you need to create the contact again for company USRT. In this scenario, locate the contact person in the Global Address Book in Company USRT and generate it as a new contact in company USRT. When doing so, select Customer in the “Contact for” field (you may need to remove the filter on Party ID to select the correct party).

     

    After the contact is created, navigate to Customer Y and assign the primary contact on the customer card.
