IFD and Wildcard Certificates

Morning all,

I'm setting up an IFD Deployment using SSL and have a question about the certificates required. In the implementation guide it mentions needing wildcard certs only if multiple organizations are used. However, on this site it says wildcard certificates are required without mentioning organizations.

http://rc.crm.dynamics.com/rc/regcont/en_us/op/articles/secure_comm.aspx#ID0EPCAC

"The CA must support wildcard certificates and the common name for the certificate requested from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web site must use a wildcard. This wildcard certificate requirement only applies to Internet-facing Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web sites."

I'm inclined to believe the implementation docs but want to be sure before I tell the client which cert to purchase.

Also, the IFD server is going to be in a DMZ. We are planning to make this a CRM application server only with the platform server behind the firewall along with the internal CRM application server. The implementation guide mentions needing a separate certificate for both the app server and platform server. Does that imply we need a separate platform server in the DMZ?

Thanks

Rob

     Hi rlandolt,

I haven't had a chance to look through it yet, the Crm Product Team just posted an IFD scenarios document http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=3861e56d-b5ed-4f7f-b2fd-5a53bc71dafc

Maybe it will help address your issue.

Thanks, Scott... I figured that the deployment guide was gospel but the other MS link was enough of a contradiction to investigate. I'd still like an MS Guru to bless it, but the guide is as good as it gets.

    Thanks

    Rob
