Hello, Experts,

We wanted to migrate plugins, Scripts and entities from our CRM 4.0 application to CRM 2015 online. Is it possible. If yes please suggest what should be the steps.

Best regards,

Saroj

No, it's not possible, everything will have to be re-written.  CRM 4.0 and CRM 2015 are just too far apart from each other.

Plus, considering how much more functionality CRM 2015 has without having to use plugins, you really should be evaluating all old plugins anyway.  Just to see if you can solve them out of the box, now.

...Except for entities.  for entities, you could upgrade your CRM to CRM 2011, then again to CRM 2013 (note, you will have to strip out all your old 4.0 plugins for this to work, as CRM 2013 won't support them).  Then make a solution with all your custom entities in it and export it.  That solution should import to CRM Online just fine.

I would suggest migrating from 4.0 to 2011 then 2013 then to 2015 in on-premise itself with fixing all the issues that you come across while testing the application. Once you have the solution that works with crm 2015 , move the solution to crm online. This way you can identify and fix all the issue before moving to online. For migration you can use CRM trial license key for on-premise version.

the route Chitrarasan Duraisamy describes is the right one. I would however refactor the scripts and plugins as CRM 2015 is based on a much modern framework
