Voice of the Customer Survey: How to open a website in the survey on a different web browser window?

Hello Community,

When designing a survey using the Survey Designer in Dynamics 365 Voice of the Customer, is there a way to configure it so that when a web site link is presented to the survey audience as part of a survey question, when the audience clicks on the link it will open the page on a separate browser window instead of in the same window? The idea here is that it would be more convenient for the audience to still see the original window which displays the list of the survey questions, while the 2nd window is launched to display the web page from the link. I understand the audience can "right click" on their mouse and select "open link in new tab" or "open link in new window", but is there another way to set it up so that when clicking on the link it will automatically open the link in a new window?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hi Eric,

    As per my understanding,

would you like to have behavior like below?

If so, you could hide original field and open a new window with javascript

    window.open(url, "_blank", param);

    by a custom ribbon button.

    Hi Clofly,

    Thank you for your reply!

What I meant is when I design the survey (in the survey designer of the Voice of the Customer), I have inserted a link that opens a web page. Is there a way to make it so that when users click on this link it will open in a different browser tab or window? By default when users click on this link it opens up on the same tab, and I would like the page to open in a different tab or window so that users can still see the original survey page in the original window.

    Hi Eric,

It's glad that you problem has been resolved.

Did you resolve it by adding " target="_blank" " attribute to link in question source code?

After added it, the pop up window will open a new tab in parent browser window instead of navigate itself to the website.

    Hi Clofly,

Yes, that's what I did, thank you!

But it looks like I would need to add the "target = "_blank"" attribute to each HTML code for each web link I want to open in a different browser tab. This means if I am preparing 5 surveys using Voice of the Customer, and if there is web page link on each survey, I would need to do this 5 times. Would you know if there is a way that I can set it up on the browser so that automatically by default it will always open the link I am clicking on in a new tab?

    Thanks!

    Hi Eric,

There are 2 methods to perform such behavior if we don't add the attribute manually:

    1. Download extension:

If your browser is Chrome, you could add Click to Tab, then most of web pages will be opened in new tab, and it works for survey page too.

Actually there are many extensions could do it.

    2. Click scroll wheel works for all links.

    Regards,

    Clofly
