Contacts & Customers Integration With CRM

Hi,

We create Sales Orders in CRM against Contacts in Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM. When these Sales Orders integrate into BC we are asked by BC to convert the Contact into a Customer in BC, to allow the Sales Order to be processed in BC. Fair enough. However, when we convert a Contact to a Customer in BC,  this in turn, through the integration with CRM, creates a new Organisation in CRM based on the new Customer created in BC.

This means we end up with a Contact in CRM and a new Organisation in CRM based on the Customer we created in BC. Not good practice, I don't think, as an individual now has a Contact and an Organisation record in CRM.

Am I doing something wrong? does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks, Ian

Yes, I think you're right, we'll need to block any creation in CRM from the integration.

Hi Northeastman, is it essential that you synchronise customers from BC to CRM? If a customer is always created first in CRM and then created in BC via the order synchronisation, could you not just turn of the mapping in the connector for customers? Yes it means that a customer will only ever be created as the result of an Order, so it depends how you want to work. I'll have a look at this in a bit more detail if you like. It may also be useful if you could post how your field mappings are setup within the connector?
