Item Reservation Question. Does BC consumes exact reserve item at the time of shipping?

Hi

For portion of our business we create SO then use Sales Header (Source Type = Sales Header) to create production order for this SO. Then we can see in SO that items have reserved QTY that link the SO to that production order.

My assumption is at the time of shipping BC should consume output of that production order for that exact SO. Is this a correct assumption?

If my assumption is correct I see a different behavior. Sometimes BC does not consume the reserved item. When I check the Item Ledger Entry for a linked production order I can see some items have been consumed but one did not. This is after shipping a SO.

Is it anyway that I can investigate this? Or find out which item shipment has used (source of the item I mean such as which production order output)

Thanks

I have the same question (0)

And there is no change of quantity on the sales line after the initial reservation is made?

not at all. same QTY. The strange part is the SO usually has more than 20 or 30 lines. Sometimes all lines use the same reservation except one part. I even can see Production order output for that part but no usage.

Do you agree that my assumption about Item Reservation is accurate? or I am missing something

    Thanks

I do agree with your assumption that as long as you can see the reservation between the SO and production order it should reserve against the output from the production and use those to fulfill your delivery. That would certainly be my expectation.

If i could replicate it i think i would run a support case with Microsoft for it.

    Thanks Inge

the problem is I cannot replicate the issue. I can see out of over 1m transactions about 800 of them happened this way but I had no success replicate it.

Is it any way that I can find out BC consumed output of which Production Order? They are not lot control or SN controlled.

It should be possible to trace it back even without lot or Serial numbers.

Are production orders the only way you replenish these items?

That is correct. Only the production order. I could not find the method yet.

    Thanks
