How to capture a newsletter checkbox with the Form Capture feature

Hi!

I set up a form capture for a contact request form on one of my websites. This is working fine, but unfortunately I ran into one issue. The contact form includes an optional checkbox for the newsletter sign-up and so far I couldn't find a way to make the form capture feature work for the checkbox.

What I have done so far:

  • I set up a subscription list for the newsletter
  • I created form fields for all fields that I'd like to capture from the form and defined the contact/lead mapping for them
  • I embedded the form capture code on my website and created the form capture in "Marketing forms" - it recognizes the form and I am now in step 2 "Map fields"
  • In step 2, I mapped the source fields with the form fields that I created before

In this field mapping step, source fields can only be mapped with form fields. Form fields can only be created for lead/contact fields, but not for subscription lists, which is fine if you create a Dynamics marketing form and do not use the form capture feature. In a Dynamics marketing form you can drag & drop subscriptions lists into the editor. But in the case of the form capture I cannot map a source field to a subscription list nor can I create a form field for a subscription list. Hope you understand my dilemma.

Do you have any solution for this? How can I make the mapping in the form capture work for my subscription list?

Thanks,

Mar

    Hi Mar,

Could you share your business background that why would you like to use form capture instead of marketing form for subscription list?

If you had requirement for customized form style, you could just import CDN library or any library that in your server folder to overwrite the default style of marketing form.

Just add new custom css rules ro class likes lp-form-fieldInput.

As doc listed, Subscription center functionality is not supported by Captured external form.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/marketing/embed-forms

In addition, as doc mentioned, you still need prefill feature for a subscription center type page, while it's not supported by form capture too.

It would be easy to configure domain authentication and run subscription type marketing form on our own page.

    Regards,

    Clofly
