we are using WMS, if for some reason we delete a work order, it is normal practice if we need to release the same sales order to warehouse another time, right?

very good question, should the reservation be removed manually, doesn't that happen when you cancel the work?
Hi all,
When you release a sales order to warehouse to generate work, application also creates a shipment record. Cancelling a work does not bring your order number to "Release to warehouse" form. In that case, to recreate a work, you should assign this shipment to a wave and process the wave. If you would like to see this order number in "Release to warehouse" form again then you should also delete the shipmentrecord that is related to work you cancelled.
For the reservations, the answer is no. It won't cancel the reservations. Even when you perform a shortpick on mobile device, it does not cancel the related reservation.
Let's say, you have 10 pieces of item A reserved against Sales-0001. When you create a work, additional "Reserved physical" lines get inserted to inventory transactions with reference type=Work. So if you sum these qtys , it seems like you have 20 pieces in reserve. This is a form of view that users should get used to. It does not manipulate On-hand forms either. Work records always work with these reservations which have no effect on related orders' reservation transactions.

I t would not Cancel the Reservation as it is done at the time of creating the sale s Order. Reservation is linked with the Sales Order Lines not with the Release to Warehouse Option. So It would not have any impact on the Manual Reservation and Automatic Reservation. As it been reserved when you create the Sales Order
