GS1 Integration - Can SCM assign a GTIN from the GS1 site at the point of creating a SKU?

We use D365 SCM and have seen a GS1 feature. Does this allow us to assign GTNs from the GS1 site and update them to our account? So that when a SKU is created the barcode is automatically assigned?
Currently barcodes are managed outside of the ERP system using the GS1 site and a spreadsheet.

    By this I mean, can SCM speak to the GS1 server so that barcodes can be assigned automatically, rather than having to manually log in and get the barcodes?

    No, not out of the box, it's very country/region specific. I know from back when I worked at a manufacturing company that each GS1 home office works and integrates in a different way (e.g., GS1 Denmark is not the same as GS1 Germany or GS1 UK).

    I don't recall any readily available ISV  solutions that can work with all GS1 home offices, so my advice, if you want to automate this, is to use some kind of RPA (Robotic Process Automation) solution for this, like Power Automate Desktop
