MS Dynamics CRM 2016 - Access denied

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

We have moved to Dynamics CRM 2016 via Office 365 and a user who is setup with Admin access to CRM is getting an access denied error when viewing Accounts from the Outlook Addin or from Internet Explorer. If the same user, on the same machine, using the same credentials, uses Chrome they have no issue and can view all the details.

I confirmed that on my test machine I was able to logon via Internet Explorer with her credentials to view the same exact account.

We're on Windows 7 Machines, running Office 2016 32bit.

Additionally.. When you go to an account in Outlook, you can scroll down to see more information on the account but if you try to double click it, the load page gives an "Access is denied. Download log file" error. Below is the error we got.

Unhandled Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[[Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.OrganizationServiceFault, Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35]]: System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Microsoft Dynamics CRM has experienced an error. And.. tried closing outlook, then clearing the cache? Not sure if outlook client for crm would interfere with the cleanup if you leave it running..

Yes it works in private browsing mode, and no clearing the cache and browser history did not work.

did you try internet explorer in the private mode? Just to validate if it's the cache..

I think we're going to rebuild the users windows profile because I have already completely blown away all Temp files, and IE temp files, cache reset, and Advanced Browser reset as well.

Looks like something stuck in IE. Usually delete everything from browsing history will do the job

    Hello,

Today I got on the user's machine, went into INPrivate mode, and was able to pull up the accounts now. What does this mean? Do I need to reinstall IE somehow or clear registry?

The stack trace that you provided shows the error detail. On account entity, somehow the IE profile remembers old form that is no longer exist. Quick try use inprivate window for IE, just to narrow down the issue.

It only happens on Accounts. If I go to view the contacts instead of accounts, I can view all the contacts and click to open. Can view opportunities, etc..

The actual error on the pop up is

    "Record is Unavailable"

"The requested record was not found or you do not have sufficient permissions to view it."

But if I go to Chrome, I can view it without issue.. Same way, same record, etc.

I already did a Cache clear for IE11 and did a browser reset. I will try again, and a do a complete Temp files clear as well. Has to be related to the Windows profile I presume due to the fact via Chrome, and other computers on same account have no issue.
