Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could help please?
I'm looking to set up a range of Production BOMS based on some standard designs we have.
These will be compiled of both single items and other production BOMS (sub assemblies).
The reason we'd like these setup is that we would like to keep track of total fit out costs per BOM - which would use existing data to always be up to date when we reviewed pricing.
Is this possible at all please as I've not been able to add the relevant fields or generate the correct report to achieve this so far?
Thank you,
Matt.
Hi KasparsSemjonovs,
Thank you for your reply. I followed your advice and when I pulled things apart a bit on that approach, I think what I needed was an Assembly BOM and not a Production BOM and that was where I was going wrong...
Many thanks,
Matt.
Try to look at "Cost shares' that can be opened from the final Item card (that has a production BOM) - this should show all the costs for each used item/another bom in the manufacturing of this item.
If You want them all together, try reports that have the "Cost specification" in their name.
Otherwise maybe give an example of how/what You want to see - as many people call one and the same thing differently - se we can be imagining something entirely different that You want to achieve.
Hi Samantha73,
Thank you for your reply!
I'll confess I've not heard of Phantom BOMs to date..
On this one though I can open a Production BOM and it will provide me with a table with item codes, item description, quantities and even a scrap %. However, I cannot add a field which displays the cost of each line:
e.g. this item (x), multiplied by quantity (y) = TOTAL COST for that item listed in the BOM.
Our overall objective is to have a list of grouped items, then every 'X' amount of months we can just look at those BOMS to check if our costs have increased above tolerance etc. My hope is that we can ultimately build a page or report in BC which just shows us the total summative cost of each BOM.
*This may be further complicated as we will be using more than just Item lines and we will be including other Production BOMs as sub assemblies within larger Production BOMs - but I think I could get around that as long as each BOM can show the prices for the item lines alone within the production BOM page itself or a report .
Thank you,
Matt.
I'm trying to understand what cannot be done in Business Central, as you can have a BOM with item lines and phantom BOM (production BOM) lines. You can use a template BOM to copy or upload from excel. Standard costing will provide the cost if you are not actually producing or buying any complements or sub-assembly
