MRP Planned Order when Plenty of Inventory

Posted on by 308 User Group Leader

I'm looking at a new requirement screen when I have excess inventory on an item with over 22k on hand and a demand of 4 over the next 2 years. I'm getting a planned PO recommendation for 2k more units even though there is no need to purchase more.

All the time coverage information looks fine, what could be driving this requirement?

This was the cause.  Thanks for pointing this out!

For some reason that item had an over ride on the item coverage group.

    Hello,

This may be because your positive days are setup to 365 (which means you estimate the stock to be consumed within this period) so for any requirement falling beyond positive days period a new planned PO will be created.

Try extending positive days on the item (rather than entire coverage group) and see if this makes a difference.
