System Message 5011 Invalid number of flex key definitions in the system

Hello All,

I'm working on a new install of Dynamics SL 2011 SP1.  I created one system database with three application databases.  I setup three companies, one in each application database.  On the DB Update step to load messages, possible value records and report control information, I receive an error message:

System Message 5011

Invalid number of flex key definitions in the system.

- I am using SQL authentication

When I open the Flexkey Definition screen, I get the same error, click OK and the screen opens.  I can modify the subaccount definitions but cannot save the changes.

Has anyone seen this before and found a solution?

Melanie

    Hi Melanie,

Do you have any records in the FlexDef table?  You should have approximately six rows.

    Hello Carolyn,

There are six records in the FlexDef table.  I can pull them up in the Flexkey Definition table and modify the settings, however, the save button is grayed out.

Do you know what the might be causing this problem?  It is on a new server and fresh installation of SL and the databases were created from scratch.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Hi Melanie,

Try going into Initialize Mode.  In SL 2011, you must be in Initialize Mode to make changes to the Flexkey Definition.

I am having this same error on SL 2011 SP2 on a new install of SL with 2 application db and 1 system db.  One app db is fine but the other app db gives this message when trying to log into the Flexkey definition screen. When I hit F3 there are no records - I believe there should be 6 records to start.  Any ideas - I am thinking I could copy them in from the other app db on the flexdef table.  Not sure if that is the best way.
