For various reasons we are no longer using the production control module. We ahve since run the job to clean up prodcition orders and no longer have any showing in any of the tables (ProdTable, etc). There are also no open journals in the production control module.
However we continue to have open Inventory Transactions for many of the no longer present production orders.
Some are Sold transactions with a reference of Production line or Co-product production.
Some are Purchased transactions with a reference of Production or Co-product production.
What can I do to clean these up? We have already ran the inventory close. These transactions are all several months old. Am I forced to just delete the InventTrans records?
Any ideas on how to proceed?
Hi Anna,
Thanks for the clarification you used an available job, however, I would like to understand the abbreviation 'TPC'. This cleanup task will probably only delete 'worksheet' type of tables, not posted transactions. Like mentioned above, if you need to cleanup on-hand, you have to post additional inventory transactions to zero them out; which would then also "clear" them from the financial reports.
Hello AnnaP,
Please don't delete the inventtrans records, as this might have some severe side effects on other things in AX (valuation, accounting, etc.)
I would rather recommend doing a deep dive with your production and controlling/accounting people into this issue to find out why those transactions still show as open.
If you cannot find a specific reason, why can't you leave those records as is?
Best regards,
Ludwig
The "deletion" came from running a job under TPC/Production control/Production orders cleanup
I also tried running the other cleanup jobs there to no avail. There was no custom script
For me deleting the InventTrans records is a last resort. Even before I ran the jobs that removed the prod orders the transactions remained open. They are not tied to any outstanding journals, etc.
How else could I possibly close the transactions? There are no unposted journals. It isn't an onhand issue but finance is demanding they get cleaned up as they are effecting financial reports.

Hi Anna,
It is not recommended to just delete inventory transactions. You can easily corrupt your environment. Can you tell more about the job you executed? Probably, it just deleted all production tables without any validations which causes the current issue.
If you have Sold and Purchased transactions, it means that production orders were posted in the past. I do assume for a certain reason. The source entries to verify if they were correct or not was deleted with the custom job.
What is the issue for having these transactions? If you have incorrect on-hand information, I would recommend to perform a counting or post a profit/loss inventory journal.
