Sending Invoices in PDF format....Help in understanding

We are in GP10 and use a remote workstation, we used to be able to send invoices directlly via PDF.   During the course of the past 2 years after upgrades we cannot seem to have that ability.   I assume that I need to load a PDF writer such as SCAN SOFT PDF Creator on my File server that wil be recognized by GP.  Is that correct, or will GP10 only work with ADOBE PDF?

I had my Value Added Retailer who sold me GP come out and try to help me with this and they couldn't make it work.   I think.....that we need a PDF writer on the server so when the terminal tries to remotely access GP it will see that there is a PDF writer and it can format in PDF and send vs. TEXT.

The drop down shows an option of TEXT or PDF, but you cannot highlight the PDF option....

    Robert,

You are correct.  You need to install a PDF writer on the remote workstation in order to use the "Send To" functionality.  Specifically, you must have the Adobe Acrobat PDF writer installed. That is the only wat the "Send To" as a PDF will work.

You can install another PDF writer, such as Cute PDF, and instead of printing to the screen and using the send to button, you can print to file, and create your PDF that way, using whatever PDF writer you have installed.

GP2010 will send PDF's automatically for certain reports such as PO's, orders, invoices, etc. with no additional writer needed as long as Office 2007 or 2010 are installed.  It's actually quite nice.

    Regards,

    Aaron

I have loaded Cute PDF and tried to save an invoice to a file but did not have the save as pdf as a selection.  What am I missing?

    Hi,

Save to PDF and the Send to PDF options are only available if you have Adobe PDF Writer installed.

If you are using any other PDF writers, you will only be able to use them as a Printer option.

If you using first option, it will support any PDF writer. For second option will show you the PDF File option if you have installed only Adobe PDF writer.

    Hope this helps!!!

OK - The above does help ... I attempted Option 1 (less expensive) but when I choose Print instead of the screen that will allow me to save to a PDF format, I see a screen that points to the BCL port.  How do I get around that?  There is no program to uninstall under Programs and Features that says anything like BCL easyPDF - and when I exit and go to Devices and Printers - properties, I see no BCL port to remove.  I am stumped.  Yes, we are trying to work around installing a licensed Adobe writer.  Hopefully this won't be too difficult to get around.

By the way,  I used Foxit
