Hi, I need to have different shipper creation time for customer returns compared to customer orders. The “Delay shipper creation” in OM setup seems to be a universal setting that applies to all order types. Is there any way to have different “Delay shipper creation” time for customer returns? Thanks Asoka

Asoka,
Thanks for the update. The Delay Shipper Creation can be set to zero if you would like. This is not required to be set to 1 minute. The only setting on the Other tab of OM Setup that is really of concern is the Process Manager Sleep time. This is not suggested to be lower than 15 sec. In some cases, depending on how orders and shippers are processed, we recommend that this be increased if problems are encountered, but 15 seconds is the minimum.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Jayson
Thanks Jayson,
Our problem is not related to replacement parts and we do not use RFC shippers. The issue is we process large number of sales orders and the "delay in shipper creation" for customer returns of 1 Minute is too slow for our operation.
Thanks again for your reply.

Asoka,
Thanks for posting!
I understnad that you would like to have different shipper delay times based on the type of order being processed.
The Delay Shipper Creation setting is a global setting and there is nothing you can do to have a different value for a different order type.
However, with Returns, if you are concerned about Shippers being created for replacement parts to be shipped before the original items are returned, you can control the creation of Shippers by using an Order Type that is setup with the RMA Behavior. By default, the RMSH Shippers will not be created until the "Release RMA Return" option is selected on the Sales Order in the Other Information tab. This allows you to ensure that the item being returned has been received prior to creating the shipper for the replacement. The RFC Shipper will create normally based on the Process Manager Sleep Time and Delay Shipepr Creation settings.
If you are trying to control when the RFC shipper for the actual return is created, you could set the Order Type with the Manual Release Required Option. This will prevent the RFC Shipper from being created until the Release Order option is selected on the Other Information tab. This gives the user full control of whent he Shipper is to be created.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
