Hello. Our client needs to transform all his marketing data from external tool into Dynamics Marketing. We have the data in spreadsheets with us.
I am trying to figure out how to Import Insights data which includes Email Interactions (Opens, Clicks), Web Integrations, Blocked Email, Sent emails, Subscriptions, Unsubscriptions as all other Insights details into Dynamics Marketing. Which Entity should we select to import this data?
Can anyone please help on how to import All Marketing data into dynamics marketing.
Hi Abhishek,
Do you mean that the error throws when you are importing event registration records?
For example, you have imported two contacts before the import of event registrations, those two contacts have same name but different mailbox, let's say:
Contact 1: Clofly Mao(Fullname), clofly1@outlook.com(Email)
Contact 2: Clofly Mao(Fullname), clofly2@outlook.com(Email)
And for the event registration records excel, it has two rows:
Row 1: ER A123(Registration ID), Clofly Mao(Contact)
Row 2: ER B123(Registration ID), Clofly Mao(Contact)
However, due to there are two duplicate Clofly Mao, so it fails to set the lookup field during import process.
Is the above the situation you encountered?
Hello Clofly,
Thank you for you response. This really helped.
Also when I imported a single contact into Dynamics it imported successfully and later I tried importing Event Registration record for this contact, it Imported successfully and its also showing under Contact Insights.
But today I Imported another contact with same Name but different email ID and while importing Event registration record for the contact I imported later with other email ID and after mapping Contact lookup and Event name while importing when I am trying to import this it is failing as an error saying 'duplicate lookup reference found'. I understand its because of system is getting same contact name more than once but how we can import multiple Event registration data for same contact or for multiple contacts with same name as the data we have has multiple records of event registrations for same contact.
Can you please help me here as well.
Hi Abhishek,
Yes, because there aren't entities whose name contains "Email clicked" or "Email sent" as keyword in Dynamics. Furthermore, other interactions such as "Contact subscribed" or "Contact unsubscribed".
From technical perspective, interactions data are also entities actually, it can be said that interaction is non-open entity, but they are not listed in either customization menu or metadata browser.
(In the screenshot, there is an entity InteractionForEmail, but from my test, no records are found by retrieving the entity.)
In other word, we are not able to do CRUD operations on them as on other general entities, (Account, Contact or Marketing Email etc.) they are not open to us to get access to them except via Insights widget or Power BI.
So please contact Support for interactions data migration.
Hello Clofly,
Thank you for your response. This means we CANT import Interactions data/insights like Email interactions (deliveries , Sent, clicks, opens, Blocked emails) and Web Interactions so we can view them under Contact Insights?
We are trying to import data for a client in Dynamics Marketing. They were using some other tool previously and now they want to shift to Dynamics Marketing with all there data.
We tried Importing some Event Interactions through Event Registration entity and they got imported successfully and showing under Contact Insights as well.
But as what you saying there is no way to import Email Interactions or any digital events directly into Dynamics Marketing?
Also we need to reach out to Microsoft support for tis kind of migration? Correct?
Hi Abhishek,
Unlike entities data, Interaction data is stored in the marketing-insights service database, we can't create these records nor view them directly.
Please open a ticket and ask them whether they can help you do such migration at background.
