is it possible to change the string size of a field in a table

The project descriptions we have in our organization are much larger than 60 characters which is the string size of the Description field in the ProjTable. Is it possible to increase this string size? Extending the table doesn't allow for this. We are trying to increase the size of this field so that we will not have to create another field for the description. Is this possible?

Hi George,

You can create an extension for "Description" EDT and increase size, but it will have a global effect and probably you could have issues with synchronization if someone used field with this EDT in an index.

Should be possible by extending the EDT description, although it's going to change field size wherever description EDT is used. If you don't want it to change everywhere then go ahead with second field.

You are able to desrease the string size of projectable.description with table extension (create your own EDT and extend the table field to refer to your own Edt). However you can not increase the string size of it. This is the intended behavior for now.
