Deletion of records in EVENTINBOX and EVENTINBOXDATA tables in AX 2012

Hi All,

 

Queries in AX 2012 R3 CU13:

We found 2 tables (EVENTINBOX and EVENTINBOXDATA) related to Systems EventInbox containing about 9 million records in each table respectively.

 

Can we delete these records from the tables? If yes, What will be the consequences ? And if we delete these records can we expect any increase in performance of the application?

 

Can anyone please share your views on above queries?

    Hi Vihar,

    You should clean-up these tables periodically. There is OOB clean-up action for this. System administration - Perdiodic - Notification clean-up.

    Thanks Sergei for your quick response.

    As we haven't cleaned from beginning there are almost 9 million records in each table so post deleting the records, does it effects any functionality and also Does this activity boost the performance of the application?

    Hi Vihar,

    I would not expect a performance boost as it's only alerts inbox table, but you can save some free space on DB disk. Also, it should not have any effects on functionality, but it's always a best practice to test these kinds of actions on a copy of the production environment.
