How can I use an SQL View created with Excel Report Builder.

Hi,

We are using SQL2005 with GP10 and I have created a view, granted SELECT access to DYNGRP (plus SELECT to all the rpt... groups), however, when I attempt to Add SQL Table to the new Excel Report (in Excel Report Builder), select the Views radio button option, I cannot find my new View in the list of views.

There must be a step or process that I need to do, to enable the custom view to be available for Excel Report Builder to use.  If one could help me to do so, I'd much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Enjoy, Steve

Oh I know I know, pick me.

Tools > SmartList Builder > Security > SQL Table Security

Select Views, then tick the new Views you want availble to SmartList Builder.

    Cheers, Steve

    Congratulations, you are absolutely correct!!!!

Yes, we have this information in our book Customizing GP with The Builders.  It covers Smartlist Builder, Excel Report Builder, Navigation List Builder as well as security and accessing outside tables, SQL views, et cetera.

What's this "our book", I can only find your name on it?

Thanks for the heads up, I have forwarded the details onto my boss, thus hopefully your sales may increase by one soon. I have experienced finding GP specialised books in the past to be impossible.

    Cheers, Steve
