Service Selection Rule (1 or more resources)

Hi All,

I am trying to create a service selection rule that will allow me to select either 1, 2, 3 or 4 users as a resource. I used a team as my resource, and setup rules as below

Root of the rule is "Choose 1 From Any site"

There are 4 sub-rules,

1. Choose 4 From -> Team

2. Choose 3 From -> Team

3. Choose 2 From -> Team

4. Choose 1 From -> Team,

The root rule should treat all sub-rules as an "OR" condition according to

this (rc.crm.dynamics.com/.../ug_ss_SelectionRule_Types.htm).

But I am having hard time trying to figure out how to accomplish it. It seems that the selection rule is very specific. You either have a specific quantity, or all sub-rules will comply to an "All" quantity. The setup that I have is currently not working.

When I specify users in the schedule service, and click find available time, when it's more than 3 users, it will return nothing.

I am wondering if I am not doing this the right way or is CRM not able to configure the way I want it.

I would appreciate someone who has an insight knowledge to share how to accomplish it with me.

Sincerely yours,

John

    Hi John,

    In your example, the root Choose 1 rule will select any 1 of the following conditions. So in your example, you will get 4 from the first team or 3 from the 2nd team, or 2 from the 3rd team or 1 from the 4th team.

    If you specify users/resources on the scheduling screen then the scheduler will try and find available slots that match both the service scheduling rules and the resources you have provided. Normally you wouldn't specify the users/resources, but rather rely on the scheduler to provide suggestions for you. If it's not finding any results when you specify 3 users, it could be that those 3 users don't all exist in the 3rd team.

    Hope this helps,

    Scott

    Hi Scott,

    The problem is that those teams (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) are the same team.

    The scenario is, the resources could be from 1 to 4 different user from the same team.

    Is it possible to setup an "OR" rule in one selection rule ? Or it needs to be broken down into

    4 individual rules, each with the specific number of users ?

    Thanks for your recommendation.

    John
