Hi,
What would be the best standard report in D365 to answer the question: What did we buy last month? So we get a clear vision of all items and their quantities that were purchased during a certain period of time?

One report that should be able to give you this information is the "Purchase and spend analysis" report in the procurement module.

Hy Capslock,
as mentioned from @Ludwig you can use embedded PowerBI (Purchase and spend analysis report), if PowerBI and entity Store refresh is setup to do that periodically. If not there are "old fashioned" reports as "Vendor/Item statistics" and "Item/Vendor Statistics", both can be filtered by date and also compared to a second period.
