Restarting Dynamics Portal Back To 'Factory Settings'

Hi All,

I wanted to start developing on the CRM's web portals, but it seems my predecessor had gone in and had a play around with it before me.

I was wondering if there is a way I could almost 'restore to factory settings' in some way so I don't have to go around and delete stuff they have created?

Thanks

    Hi Katie,

Just resetting the portal doesn't help if you want all you data reverted to initial state using the same portal type (like Customer self service)

    There are different ways

    1) remove portal data and reinstall

Go in Dynamics to Portals->Websites-> and delete your current website. (it will remove everything connected to the site including page configuration, entity permission, templates, snippets, etc)

Go to Setttings->Solution->select {yourPortalType}Portal solution and remove it. Without it after when you try provision it will not add the data.

After that you can Reset and reprovision the portal. (this will import portal solution & import the initial data)

    2) just use different portal type

Go to  Dynamics Portal Admin Console -> Update 365 instance -> click to Update -> this will allow you to provision different type of the portal. Which create new website and all the records in CRM.

3)If you just need playground and you dont care of other customization/data in CRM - > you can switch you instance to sandbox -> reset it -> and provision portal. You will recieve all the new data.

    4) Provision a portal somewhere else (you can use CRM trial for example.) Use XRMToolbox Portal Move Records plugin to export and import initial data to your portal.

So as you see there are plenty of ways of doing what you need.

    Hi,

If you change the Dynamics 365 instance fro admin portal, it will reinstall the portal.

    Hope this helps.
