Re-import data with GUID

Hi,

I have exported  14 000 records from a customized entity and made changes in my data and now I want to import it again. My question is how do I handle the "do not modify"-fields in the mapping? I have chosen Default (Automatic Mapping) in the step for Select Data Mapping and mapped the Record Types to my customized entity but the "do not modify"-fields show up as Not Mapped and I do not know what to map them to since these are GUID's and I thought they would map themselves?

Another question regarding this import, if I delete one of the records completely from the excel file I am re-importing, will that record be deleted in CRM then?

Any help will be highly appreciated, thank you!!

/Isabell

Hi Isabell when you remove the data from excel while importing back, then the data will not be there in CRM Isabell

Have you made any changes to first 3 columns of the exported files. If not then your import will run without issues. Refer this:

Regarding your second question. If we remove a record from excel  then that record won't get deleted when you reimport. Only thing that will happen is that record won't get updated

    Hi,

Thanks for answering! The problem seemed to be that I was trying to import a csv file, when I changed it to a xlsx it worked and I didn't have to map any fields. One question though, the import didn't give me any successes , any errors or not even any number in total processed and I don't understand why?

And sorry if I am mistaken here, but you seem to say the opposite thing about the records being deleted in CRM if I delete them in the excel file and then re-import them?

    Thanks! /Isabell

Okay, I found out how this works. The reason anything didn't get updated is because I imported the same exported file for the second time. When I exported a new one and imported the same changes it got updated and worked correctly.

I also tried deleting a record from the excel file in order to see if it got deleted in CRM, but it didn't. So it seems to be the way Saad said, the record doesn't get updated, nor deleted.

    Thanks! /Isabell
